Shed Builder Expo 2022, Sept. 28-29 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, Virginia, is shaping up to be bigger and better than the inaugural event in Grand Rapids last year.
How?
First, more exhibitors. There are 90-plus exhibitors already signed up to display on the show floor, and more are on the way.
The Greater Richmond Convention Center is a first-class venue with large exhibit halls, numerous meeting rooms, and an on-site restaurant and food court. Shed Builder Expo has acquired more than 67,000 square feet of exhibit space for Expo 2022, 20 percent more space than in 2021.
Second, more educational sessions. Last year, we tested having these sessions in the morning before the show floor opened. We offered eight (plus a last-minute bonus session) to have a decent number, but not too many to see the response.
The sessions were packed, so we’ve upped the number to 12 to provide even more shed industry education for your businesses.
What’s left to make this the best shed and portable structure industry trade show ever? You! Read on to find out what you need to know to join us in Richmond in September.

Once the sessions are done for the day, the show floor will open for attendees—as mentioned, bigger and better!

From lumber to financing, from design to delivery, you’ll find something for every part of your shed-building business.
REGISTRATION & TRAVEL PLANS
To benefit from all that Shed Builder Expo 2022 will offer, you need to register and make travel plans for everyone planning to attend.
Companies and individuals who build, sell, deliver and install sheds, portable buildings, and related outdoor structures can register online or by fax.
You can register by logging onto https://shedbuilderexpo.com/register/ or calling 616-575-9998. Multiple attendees from the same company can register on the same form.
Those who need to register by fax can send a request to 616-582-6300.
Shed industry suppliers still interested in exhibiting at the show can call 616-575-9998 or email [email protected].
Attendees are encouraged to pre-register for the event to guarantee admittance on the days of the show.
After you’ve registered, you’ll need to make travel plans to get to Richmond.
The Richmond Region is within a day’s drive of half the U.S. population. You can find information on driving to the city along with taking the Amtrak or a bus here: https://www.visitrichmondva.com/plan/getting-here/.
Richmond International Airport offers low-cost, nonstop flights from all over the United States and is a quick 15-20 minute drive into downtown and the convention center. Info on all flight carriers and routes can be found here: https://www.visitrichmondva.com/plan/direct-flights-to-richmond-va/.
Shed Builder Expo attendees can stay at the Richmond Marriott (recently renovated and connected to the Convention Center) and the Hilton Richmond Downtown (also recently renovated).
(Note: No one from Shed Builder Expo will contact you about hotel details or packages. Anyone who does is not affiliated with the show and is likely a scam artist.)
ABOUT RICHMOND
After the Shed Builder Expo show floor closes on both days, the Richmond area has plenty of sights, sounds, and flavors for attendees and exhibitors to enjoy.
Conveniently located in the heart of the Mid-Atlantic, Virginia’s Richmond Region is a vibrant, thriving, and diverse mid-sized metropolitan destination with nationally-renowned attributes in both nature and business.
From the James River boasting the only class IV rapids in the United States that run through an urban environment to the world’s fastest high-speed Internet, it all runs through Richmond.
When you meet in the Richmond Region, you’re not only meeting in “One of the Top 50 Cities Worth Exploring in 2022” (MSN) but also “One of the Top 25 Convention Cities” (MeetingSource).
For fun ideas, check out some of the suggested itineraries on VisitRichmondVA.com. These range from outdoors, family fun, history, food and beverage, and more. You can find those here: https://www.visitrichmondva.com/plan/itinerary-ideas/.
Also check out the What’s New page on the website, which features new museum exhibits, hotel openings, new restaurants and breweries, and much more. That can be found here: https://www.visitrichmondva.com/media/whats-new/.
The Richmond Region is a huge food and craft beverage city, and there are plenty of options within walking distance of the Convention Center.
For coffee/breakfast try Urban Hang Suite, Saadia’s JuiceBox, or Perly’s.
A tasty lunch can be had at Cheddar Jackson, Wong Gonzalez, Mama J’s Kitchen (has been James Beard-nominated!), Soul Taco (the location on N 2nd Street), and Jamaica House.
Some of Richmond’s top dinner options include Tarrant’s Café, Lillie Pearl, Southern Kitchen, Restaurant Adarra (was named one of the best new restaurants in America in 2020 by Esquire Magazine), and Rappahannock.
Finally, for drinks and other treats try Suzy Sno (New Orleans-style snowball shop), One Way Market (a great place to grab international and hard-to-find snacks), Triple Crossing Brewing (the location on Foushee Street), Sandman Comedy Club (to catch a comedy show), Hotel Greene (not a hotel, but an indoor mini-golf course—they also serve food and drinks), and Gallery 5 (and art gallery and live music/performance space).
As you can see, there’s a lot planned to help you and your shed-building business (and maybe have a little fun) in Richmond.
